New For 2008:
An Online School Of The Spirit
A Letter From Stan Smith
Frankly, I like a relational, face-to-face sort of ministry. The internet has its limitations. So why am I posting an online school of the Spirit?
For more than thirty years, I have traveled and ministered in all sorts of churches and ministries. I feel I accomplish most when I focus on a topic in one church for several meetings.
Recently, I felt God was calling me to prepare workshops I could conduct in various places. But how would I get the word out? As I held this question before Him, I sensed that I could post the materials on the web as I write them. This would advertise the workshops, but it would also be an online school of the Spirit that could go all over the world.
If it's online, how can it be a school of the Spirit?
I can offer a few teachings, written or recorded, but only as you develop your own prayer life can you be led and taught by the Holy Spirit.
I saw the principles work in a class I conducted every other Tuesday night in California. Our first assignment was to soak -- to wait on God -- at least once every two or three days. Then we began to minister to 20 people each month, with the simple assignment to encourage or appreciate them. And along the way, we cultivated a hearing ear as we listened for the Holy Spirit to direct us.
People began to say they were surprised at how many ministry opportunities they could find in daily life. They stepped into divine appointments. God used them prophetically and in healing. One man said, "I'm addicted!"
Another lady lived too far away to attend the classes, so she read the weekly updates on our blog. She decided to do one of the assignments and led two people to Christ. You don't have to attend the classes to draw something worthwhile from the written materials.
I think everyone who uses these materials understands that it takes time and money to produce them. If you are using these materials, we ask you to prayerfully consider sending donations as God directs, to help fund this project and others. Donations can be sent by mail or online via PayPal.

“Soaking”
a teaching CD by Stan Smith
Soaking is the neglected part of the great commission.
This CD tells how to soak, and what to expect when you do.
We’ll send this teaching CD to anyone who sends a donation.
Some people really can't afford to pay for the materials. Nothing would delight us more than to know the materials are equipping people to minister: college students, retirees on fixed incomes, or ministers in developing nations.
So whether you send donations or not, we ask you to pray for us, and to let others know about the online school.
Your giving helps us make these resources available worldwide. GospelSmith, a 501(c)(3) organization, sends tax receipts to donors at the end of the year.
What is the vision for the school?
God is pouring the works of Jesus through people in all walks of life today. People are hungry for more of God than we can find as pew-warmers in a weekly Sunday service.
It's not that the Sunday service is wrong. Its that we need to redeem the time between meetings and find ways to get into a richer flow of the Holy Spirit.
My materials will give you nudges, encouragement, and sometimes a few hard questions. Beyond that, it is God who will equip you. I can't do it; it isn't man’s work. It's His.
But if you will be systematic about spending time with God, and if you will discipline yourself to encourage and appreciate people, God will train you. And when He does, I can't take the credit for it. You are the one who sought Him; you are the one who obeyed His voice. It's really between you and God.
This is why I can call it an online school -- of the Spirit.
