The mission of GospelSmith: to equip people to be not just disciples of Jesus, but apprentices. What's the difference between a disciple and an apprentice? In a few words, discipleship is discipline -- hard work -- sacrifice -- drudgery -- all of which can happen as distance-learning. But apprenticeship is hands-on training, as a master teaches the apprentice to do the same works that he does. In the Greek New Testament, the word translated as "disciple" could just as easily be translated as "apprentice." But we're so used to hearing about Jesus and the twelve disciples that it's hard at first to rewire ourselves to think of Jesus and His twelve apprentices. But that's what they were -- and that's what you and I can be. This is the ministry of GospelSmith: to cultivate a life of apprenticeship with Jesus.
GospelSmith is an online resource for others who want to be apprentices of Jesus.A lot of articles and videos are listed in the column to the right. They are designed for individuals, for small groups, and for churches all over the world. These materisals are not meant to substitute for your involvement with a local church. God has designed us to need one another. We need fellowship with other apprentices. We need friends who will help us handle the things of God with wisdom, humility, and love. The GospelSmith channel on YouTube includes dozens of videos. Visit YouTube and search for "GospelSmith888". That will lead you to the GospelSmith channel. Here's one of the videos you'll find there, of Pastor JoAnn and Pastor Stan sharing together. "The Wisdom From Above"GospelSmith Has A HistoryGospelSmith was founded in 2000, and its first ten years were devoted to Stan and JoAnn’s travels in ministry. During those years, a string of prophecies, signs, coincidences, answered prayers, miracles, and even mistakes have worked together to bring a church to birth. But one ingredient in the story is the many churches and other ministries in the region that have invited Pastors Stan and JoAnn to preach, to lead prophetic worship, and to move in spiritual gifts. Wanting to take the gospel outside the sanctuary, Pastors Stan and JoAnn have written her conversion story as a book, Mind Lost Mind Found. Already, they've been able to use it as an evangelistic tool. Much of GospelSmith's history lies ahead. For updates and testimonies, see http://gospelsmith.wordpress.com. |
